Arriving tourist killed in Delhi
An Australian woman was stabbed in the face and killed after arriving at Delhi airport and taking a taxi, Indian police said.

The woman was named as 59-year-old Dawn Griggs, who had arrived on a plane from Hong Kong at 1.30am on Wednesday.

A 24-year-old taxi driver was arrested after a body was found in forest close to the airport at around noon.

Last year the gang-rape of a Swiss diplomat shocked Delhi and raised fears for foreign women in the capital.

Driver paraded

Police said Griggs had died instantly.

Deputy commissioner of airport police, Devesh Srivastava, said she had left the airport at around 2.10am and was travelling alone.

She had planned to stay until 20 April, he said.

The cab driver was paraded before reporters at the airport police station.

The airport has a system allowing arriving passengers to hire taxis by paying fixed prices in advance to prevent overcharging.

The gang rape of the Swiss diplomat at a film festival last October stunned Delhi and led Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani to call it "shocking and shameful" to India.
