Death sentences over bus attack
Veerappan has so far avoided capture
The Indian Supreme Court has handed down the death penalty to four people convicted for an attack on a bus carrying policemen.

The attack killed more than 20 people - most of them police - in the southern Karnataka state, more than a decade ago.

The convicted men were all associates of the notorious southern Indian bandit Veerappan.

They had appealed to the Supreme Court after a lower court gave them life prison sentences.

However, the Supreme court converted the prison sentences into death sentences.
