Bangladesh agrees to US facilities request
The caretaker government of Bangladesh has agreed to a request by the United States to use the nation's airspace, airfields and port facilities.
A senior foreign ministry official Shafi Sami said the decision was taken after consulting the main political parties. He said the government believed there was widespread public support for the development of an international coalition against terrorism, following the attacks on New York and Washington a week ago, and the move would not damage the stability of Bangladesh.
