Roughly 500,000 Palestinian refugees live in Syria after fleeing their homes during the Arab-Israeli wars in 1948 and 1967.
They are largely integrated into Syrian society but still do not have citizenship and retain their Palestinian identity.
Economics student Salam explained how the refugee community displayed its support for Hamas during the recent war in Gaza.
