'Foreign Islamic militants' killed in Algeria
Reports from Algeria say security forces have killed seven armed Islamic fundamentalists. The men are said to have been killed on Sunday in the northern Zbarbar mountains, near Bouira. Two Tunisians and one Mauritanian national were among the victims, who were said to belong to the hard-line Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat. At least 150,000 people have been killed in Algeria's civil war since 1992. From the newsroom of the BBC World Service |
