Weather halts transport services

Traffic jam in Jersey
Drivers and air travellers have experience delays in Jersey

Departures from the main bus station in Jersey were suspended earlier due to the weather, the transport department has said.

The director of transport said because a number of buses had been stranded mid-route the department stopped bus services until the roads had improved.

Services were suspended at midday and resumed again just over an hour later.

Flights from Jersey Airport have also been disrupted because of a temporary runway closure.

Heavy snow in the UK also led to a number of flights from Jersey being cancelled.

Steve Reid from the airport said a lot of people had had to re-book their journeys.

Drivers in Jersey also experienced heavier than usual traffic jams during the rush hour on Friday morning.
