Syvret charged with data offences

Senator Syvret has been charged with publishing a confidential police report

A Jersey senator has been charged with two offences relating to data protection laws.

The charges against Stuart Syvret include publishing a confidential police report on his internet blog that contained personal data, police said.

The 44-year-old politician was charged when he was called to attend the island's police headquarters on Wednesday afternoon.

He is due to appear before magistrates on Thursday 16 July.
