Refuge aims to raise 100K a year

Jersey's Women's Refuge has estimated it needs to raise 100,000 a year on top of States' grants.

The women's refuge offers safe accommodation for women and their children suffering from physical and emotional abuse.

Lorna Kearney, deputy manager of the refuge, said fundraising was crucial to the future of the organisation.

She spoke as the refuge held a fundraising day at the Recreation Centre in St John.
