Search on for Armatrading support

Joan Armatrading
Three supporting musicians are needed for the concerts

A search is on to find three local acoustic musicians to support a world- famous singer when she appears at the Opera House in Jersey.

Joan Armatrading will perform at the theatre from 4-6 August.

The venue wants to make sure she has some local talent to support her - but applications must be made within the next five days.

Director Jasmine Hendry says it is a fantastic opportunity for serious solo artists from Jersey.

Interested musicians are asked to send a recent demonstration tape with a covering letter to the marketing department at the Opera House.

Three artists are needed and applications must be in by next Wednesday.

Joan Armatrading is one of the UK's best-known folk blues singers, who has twice been nominated for Grammy Awards.

Last year she became the first UK artist to go straight to the top of the Billboard Blues charts.
