New Dean is officially announced
St Helier Parish Church
The island's Dean is also the priest of St Helier Parish Church
The Reverend Canon Robert Key is to be the new Dean of Jersey.

He will take over from the Very Reverend John Seaford, who retired earlier this year.

Canon Key, 53, currently the director of the Church Pastoral Aid Society, will be taking over as Dean of Jersey and priest of St Helier.

As part of his role, he will be expected to attend and take part in States sittings although he will not be able to vote.

Canon Key, who is married with one son and two daughters, was ordained a deacon in 1976 and a priest in 1977.

He has spent most of his church career in Oxfordshire and became the Vicar of St Andrew's in Oxford in 1991.

Until he takes up the role, the Vice Dean, the Reverend John Harkin, will be carrying out the duties of the post.

The Very Reverend John Seaford left as Dean after more than 12 years in the role.
