Islanders reminded of car rules
Officials in charge of registering vehicles in Jersey say there are more and more cars with UK or foreign number plates on the island.

Jersey's Driver and Vehicle Standards Department says anyone who lives in the island should have their car re-registered with J-plates.

The department says it is aware there are a number of misconceptions about registering non-local vehicles.

But owners must register their vehicles when they start living in the island.

Head of Department Rowan Minkley said if a foreign registered vehicle is involved in an accident and the driver does not report it, or leaves the scene, there is often no way of finding out who owns it.
