Ban on smoking outside Guernsey hospitals under review

Health chiefs are considering responses from the public on proposals to ban smoking outside Guernsey's hospitals.

Health and Social Services has been looking into the idea of banning smoking on all land managed by the department.

People were asked for their views on the idea in 2009 and were given until the end of February to send them in.

A spokesman for the department said the management had "yet to make a final decision" on the issue.

Smoking is already banned inside most Health and Social Services buildings, with a few exceptions such as residential care homes and staff accommodation.
