Two trains have collided during the morning commute in Belgium, killing 18 people. Readers may find some of the following images disturbing.
The collision happened at Halle, south west of Brussels, at around 0830 local time (0730 GMT) in snow.
Witnesses told how passengers had been thrown around inside the trains. Doctors treated many at the scene, with some amputations performed.
The local governor said one train appeared to have missed a stop signal, but an investigation has begun. The accident happened during freezing temperatures and snow.
Some of the injured were treated at the scene while others were taken to nearby hospitals. A sports hall was also used to treat those with slight injuries.
Several carriages were derailed, damaging overhead lines. One rail official said: "The devastation is enormous." Local rail services and long-distance trains were disrupted.
There were thought to be a total of about 250-300 passengers on board the trains, with reports that up to 150 were slightly injured.
