The mayor of Marbella is appearing in court as part of a corruption investigation which has resulted in the arrest of 23 people in southern Spain.
Police raided the town hall and other offices and seized property worth 2.4bn euros (£1.6bn), including cash, art, thoroughbred horses and a helicopter.
Police say they are investigating a number of crimes including bribery, influence-peddling and embezzlement.
Marbella's mayor Marisol Yague has denied doing anything wrong.
But she could be jailed by the judge on Friday, pending the outcome of the investigation. She has already spent two nights in custody.
Others arrested included lawyers, businessmen, two councillors and the city council's former urban planning chief, Juan Antonio Roca.
Police have blocked more than 1,000 bank accounts.
