Macedonia Quiz
Cross and crescent moon in Skopje
Two-thirds of Macedonian citizens are Christian, one-third are Muslim

The President of the European Commission, Jose Manuel Barroso, is making his first trip to the Balkans since he took office in 2004.

In a four-day sweep through five countries, he will spend Friday afternoon in the latest state to become a candidate for EU membership - Macedonia.

Here is your chance to test your knowledge of this country of two million people.

Wednesday: Croatia
Thursday: Serbia/Montenegro
Friday: Kosovo and Macedonia
Saturday: Albania and Bosnia
Macedonia has rarely been in the headlines since 2001, when fighting between ethnic Albanian gunmen and government forces threatened to slide into a full-scale civil war.

Instead, it has become a rare Balkan success story, with the government defusing tensions by ceding more rights to ethnic Albanians.
