Maradona in Italian tax trouble
Diego Maradona in Colombia, 16 February 2005
Maradona is considered one of football's all-time greats
Argentine football legend Diego Maradona has been ordered to pay an Italian tax bill worth about 30 million euros ($39.6m; 21m).

An Italian court rejected an appeal by the former star and ordered him to pay the tax bill he racked up while playing for Napoli from 1985-1991.

Maradona was told of his tax debt when he got off a plane in Rome in 2001.

Maradona led Argentina to a World Cup win in 1986 and Napoli to their only Italian league titles in 1987 and 1990.

His career went into decline in 1991 when he was suspended for 15 months following a positive test for cocaine while playing for Napoli.

Considered by many football fans as one of the greatest players of all time, the 44-year-old has been treated regularly for drug addiction.
