Plane makes emergency landing

An Emirates jetliner headed for Dubai and carrying 225 people has had to make an emergency landing after its tail struck the runway as it took off from Melbourne airport, Australia.

Passengers described seeing 'sparks shoot out' and a loud noise, as the plane took off.

After dumping fuel for 45 minutes the pilot returned and made an emergency landing at Melbourne airport.

There have been no reports of injuries.
