"The convention has been a great showcase of Republican values. The themes of self-reliance, hard work, love of country and service were very well articulated.

While 'country first' was repeatedly mentioned throughout the convention, John McCain did a good job explaining what that meant to him.

He left no doubt that he is prepared to deal with the threats our country will inevitably face.

Sarah Palin's speech was outstanding. She was tough, sharp and showed she will be a very strong advocate for Americans - and a very tough adversary.

It will be hard to paint her as a 'champion of the rich' and out of touch with working and poor Americans. She has definitely changed the dynamics of this election.

I feel the media attacks on Palin's family are out of line. Her daughter's pregnancy is a personal matter. The Democrats are normally supportive of unwed teenage mothers. Their support doesn't extend to those teens who make the choice Ms Palin made, it seems.

Rudy Giuliani's dissection of Obama's inexperience was very, very tough, giving voice to the doubts many have about Obama.

This week has shown that when it comes to patriotism, Republicans really get it."
