Peacekeeper killed in DR Congo
Many Congolese militiamen voluntarily surrendered their weapons to a UN mission
The peacekeepers are disarming militias in eastern DR Congo
The United Nations says one Indian peacekeeper has been killed and two others wounded after a gunfight in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

A UN spokesman said it happened in a fight between Congolese army troops and a truck carrying unidentified gunmen.

The spokesman said stray bullets fired by the gunmen hit the peacekeepers about 30km north of Goma in the eastern province of North Kivu.

He said the UN force was not deliberately targeted.
