Man still held over body in park
Dean Shorney
Dean Shorney's body was found on Tuesday night
Police are continuing to question a 36-year-old man after a man's body was found in a park in south Wales.

The body of Dean Shorney, who lives in the area, was discovered by a member of the public in Bargoed Park at 2230 BST on Tuesday.

Neighbours said they were "devastated" by the death of the 21-year-old, who was well-known in the area.

The park was sealed off on Wednesday while officers investigated. Police said the arrested man was from Bargoed.

One local woman told BBC Wales that Mr Shorney was a "really lovely boy".

"[He] did no harm to anybody. He just used to like to wander around with his Walkman in his ears. He never used to say boo to anybody," she said.

It is not clear whether Bargoed Park will be reopened on Thursday.

Gwent Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area between 1800 BST and 2300 BST on Tuesday can contact Gwent Police on 01633 838111 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
