About 500 mourners turned out for Ffion Wyn Roberts' funeral

Police investigating the murder of a care worker in Gwynedd say they are continuing to search and forensically examine "possible scenes of interest".

Ffion Wyn Roberts, 22, was found dead in a drainage canal in Porthmadog on 10 April. She had been strangled and drowned.

Two men were arrested and questioned over the death last week, before being released on bail.

Police said a large investigation team remains in the town.

Det Supt Peter Chalinor, the senior investigating officer, said North Wales Police were "committed to finding the person or persons responsible for Ffion's murder".

There is still nothing to suggest that this incident is related to any other

"All lines of enquiry are still being robustly investigated and this will include the search and forensic examination of any possible scenes of interest," he said.

"Local people can be reassured that every effort is being made and will continue to be made in search of the truth as to what happened to Ffion."

Police have conducted house to house enquires, distributed leaflets and stopped cars in the area to encourage people to give as much information as possible to help the enquiry.

Det Supt Chalinor added: "We have had an excellent response from local people. People in the area need to reassured that incidents like this are extremely rare and there is still nothing to suggest that this incident is related to any other."

Ms Roberts had last been seen in the early hours of the morning on 10 April at a friend's party in the Union pub in the neighbouring village of Tremadog, before leaving to walk about a mile to her home.

An inquest heard that she had been strangled with a ligature and drowned. She was found in the waterway that runs behind the town, known locally as Y Cyt.

About 500 mourners turned out for her funeral service at the town's Salem Chapel last Saturday, with some shops closing out of respect.
