Former Coronation Street actor Bruce Jones will stand trial accused of assaulting his wife and dangerous driving.

Mold Crown Court heard that the actor, who played the part of Les Battersby, denies the offences.

Appearing under his real name, Ian Roy Jones, he was charged with dangerous driving on the A55 dual carriageway in north Wales in August.

He is also charged with common assault on his wife, aged 49, on the same day.

Mr Jones, who is understood to be living in a caravan in Rhyl in Denbighshire, was granted bail at the hearing on the condition that he has no contact with is wife.

The court was told that he will now face a trial on 4 February, in a case centring on what occurred between him and his wife as she drove the vehicle along the A55 expressway.
