Passenger death driver remanded

David Foulkes was happy-go-lucky, loving and caring, say his family

A driver has appeared in court charged with causing the death by dangerous driving of his 23-year-old passenger in a crash in Flintshire at the weekend.

Martin Bielicky, 29, a Slovakian living at Shotton, is accused of causing the death of David Foulkes from Mancot at Hawarden early on Sunday.

The prosecution say Mr Bielicky was about treble the drink-drive limit when a car hit a wall and tree at 0520 BST.

He was was remanded in custody for two weeks.

Magistrates remanded Mr Bielicky in custody to appear at a preliminary hearing at Mold Crown Court in two weeks.

Tributes have been paid to Mr Foulkes by his family, who said he was happy-go-lucky, loving and caring and put everyone else before himself.

"He was well respected, a hard worker who loved his job and a keen football player and poker player," they said.

Mr Foulkes worked for a pharmaceutical company in Deeside.
