Stereophonics singer Kelly Jones is celebrating becoming a father for the first time.

He and partner Rebecca Walters have announced they have a daughter and have named her Lolita Bootsy Jones.

Bassist Richard Jones is also expecting his first child in the spring.

Kelly, 30, from Cwmaman, Aberdare, in the Cynon Valley, has been with graphic designer Rebecca for more than two years.

Both mother and child are said to be doing well. A family friend described Kelly as "a doting" dad, and said he had been keen on the name "Lolita" for some time.

"It's not everyone's favourite," the friend said. "But Kelly has always loved the name. In fact, he's even written a song called Lolita which is on the new album.

Bass player Richard Jones is also said to be looking forward to the birth of his baby.

The two grew up together in Cwmaman, but now live in London.

Kelly recently delighted Welsh fans by giving a rare solo performance at the tsunami relief concert at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium a week ago.

The Stereophonics were on tour in France at the time, but their frontman agreed to fly in especially for the fundraising gig, accompanied by nothing more than his own Gibson SG electric guitar.
