Racing the Atlantic: Map

Clipper map key

Alison Harper

The BBC's Alison Harper joined the crew of the yacht Edinburgh Inspiring Capital to race across the Atlantic on the first leg of the Clipper Round the World race.

Alison has been sending back videos of her sea adventures, which we have plotted, along with the boat's position, on the map above.

The teams left la Rochelle in France on 22 September and had to negotiate the Bay of Biscay and the Doldrums before heading to Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.

Team Finland won the leg and four other teams reached Rio before the race ended on 20 October. Alison and the crew of Edinburgh had still to reach Brazil and finished ninth. The 10 yachts start the next leg on 27 October.
