In pictures: Flats flattened

A 1960s block of flats in Liverpool was reduced to a heap of rubble in seconds on Sunday.

The 15-storey high Valley View tower block in Childwall, was blown up by demolition experts just after noon.

People watched from a safe distance as 20 kilogrammes of explosives brought down the 7,000-tonne building.

The area is undergoing regeneration.
