The British economy shrank for the first time in 16 years between July and September. How badly has the downturn affected you?

Economic output fell by 0.5%, according to the UK Office for National Statistics, amid fears of a global slowdown and huge volatility on world share markets.

The combination of the credit crunch, falling house prices and rising unemployment has had a negative effect on the economy.

The BBC is looking at the state of the UK and global economies. We want to hear how you have been affected by the current downturn.

Have you made changes in the past quarter? What is your experience of the current financial crisis? Are you worried about the possibility of a recession? Or have you benefited from the downturn?

The map is part of a trial to find new ways of showing comments sent in by our readers.
