Student launches new book company
Discovery point Dundee
The new book contains walks around Dundee
A Dundee University student has set up an independent publishing company specialising in books about the city.

Sharon McPherson, a third year English student, has produced a book of walks around Dundee which will be published on Tuesday.

Ms McPherson set up Pumpkin Press Souvenirs after spotting a gap in the market for books about the city.

The student also produces stationery and postcards to celebrate Dundee. A second book is expected in 2007.

The new book is called A Skirt Around Dundee - A Walkers' Guide to the City.

It details four walks with illustrated maps containing historic details and points of interest.

Ms McPherson said: "I set out to create a book in the format of a walkers' guide, aimed at the tourist but it had to be something that Dundonians, with their love for their city, would appreciate also."

The book will be available from Waterstones, Borders and the Tourist Information Centre in the city's Castle Street.
