Dundee has a strong reputation in the bio science industry
A Dundee bio-science company has been named as one of the UK's top three innovators in its field.

CXR Biosciences picked up the accolade at London's Bio Entrepreneur of the Year Awards.

The company was recognised for its role in developing technology to aid the discovery of new drugs.

Dundee is seen a major centre for Scotland's life science sector, which aims to transform scientific discoveries into medical treatments.

'Dedication of companies'

The awards were hosted by government organisation UK Trade & Investment and the business organisation London First.

UK Trade & Investment chief executive Andrew Cahn said the event was an opportunity for the country to build on its reputation as a bio-science world leader.

"We've consolidated our position as number one in Europe - something we've achieved through the strength and dedication of UK biotech companies and the excellence of our science."

Other award winners included Cambridge company Domantis, which received recognition for developing of innovative new medicines.

Lipoxen, a bio-pharmaceutical company based in London, won a special award in recognition of their sales in India with the help of local trade advisors.
