RAF Kinloss news 'will cost jobs'

The commanding officer at RAF Kinloss has said 250 posts will be closed a year earlier than planned, and 100 civilian jobs could also be at risk.

Group Captain Robbie Noel was speaking after Defence Secretary Bob Ainsworth's announcement the present Nimrod fleet is to be taken out of service early.

The base is a major local employer and generates millions of pounds for the Moray economy.

Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) has promised swift action to help.
