Woman, 89, dies in road accident

An 89-year-old woman has died after being knocked down in the Mastrick area of Aberdeen.

Mary Findlay was hit by a delivery van on Provost Rust Drive in the city just after 1600 GMT on Friday.

She was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where she died. The 69-year-old van driver was uninjured.

The woman walked with a stick and lived locally. Grampian Police launched an investigation and appealed for witnesses.
