Man badly hurt in weapons attack

A man was seriously injured when he was attacked by two men armed with weapons in Aberdeen.

The 26-year-old victim was assaulted in a wooded area at Station Road, Woodside, at about 1400 BST on Tuesday.

He suffered arm and leg injuries after a sustained attack, believed to have been carried out with "blunt and bladed weapons".

A member of the public found the collapsed victim, and he was taken by ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Det Sgt Darren Bruce, of Grampian Police, who is leading the inquiry, said: "This was a serious and sustained assault on the man. It is believed he may have been attacked with blunt and bladed weapons."
