Scottish comedian Billy Connolly is understood to have escaped unhurt after a one-vehicle accident in Aberdeenshire.

His Land Rover was involved in the incident on A939 near Ballater on Sunday afternoon.

Connolly, 65, has a home at nearby Candacraig.

Grampian Police said they dealt with numerous collisions as a result of icy conditions throughout the region, and urged drivers to take care.
