Police appeal after Pole assault

Police appealed for witnesses to the Peterhead attack
A Polish man was the victim of an unprovoked attack in Peterhead the day after arriving in Scotland.

The 29-year-old man was in the Aberdeenshire fishing town's Queen Street when the assault happened in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Grampian Police said that during the attack he was punched about the head and fell to the ground.

The attacker was described as in his early 20s, about 6ft tall, of slim build with short dark gelled hair.

He was wearing jeans and a long sleeved dark top with a distinctive white diamond on the front.
