Damien Muir
Damien Muir died in hospital from his injuries
The family of a man who was murdered in Greenock have spoken of their "grief and devastation".

Damien Muir, 34, from the town, died in hospital from the injuries he sustained during a disturbance in Inverkip Street at about 0130 BST on Saturday.

Police have urged anyone who saw the incident to come forward.

His sister Karin said: "My family is so grateful to everyone who is helping police find the evil person who took my brother's life."

In a statement, a family spokesperson said: "We are united in absolute grief and devastation.

"Damien was a much loved son, brother and uncle and to lose him in such a tragic way is so incomprehensible.

"We urge the public to continue coming forward with any information on Damien's movements late Friday night and Saturday morning."

Det Insp John Dearie asked any motorists who saw a disturbance involving two men in Inverkip Street to come forward.

"It may be they thought the men were having a carry on and did not realise the seriousness of the matter," he said.
