Olympic gold medallist Chris Hoy is to receive an honorary degree from one of his former universities. The cyclist studied maths and physics at St Andrews from 1994-1996 and during his time there picked up a Sportsman of the Year award. Since then, the 33-year-old has gone on to win four Olympic gold medals, been named BBC Sports Personality of the Year and knighted by the Queen. Sir Chris will be made a Doctor of Science on 26 June. He said: "I'm delighted to be awarded with an honorary degree from St Andrews. It's a real privilege and a huge honour. "I've got some great memories from my time there as a student and it'll be good to be back."
