SNP unveils new campaign slogan

Alex Salmond
The new slogan will be used in future election campaigns

First Minister Alex Salmond has unveiled his party's new campaign slogan at the SNP spring conference.

The message: "We've got what it takes", printed on a Saltire background, will be used in future European, Scottish and UK elections.

Mr Salmond said it expressed the dual purpose of underlining Scotland's ability to prosper economically and also achieve political independence.

The slogan replaces the SNP's previous campaign message: "It's time."

In a letter to party members, Mr Salmond said: "This is our opportunity to show Scotland's way forward.

"I have no doubt that, in Scotland, we've got what it takes to weather the economic storm and recover strongly."

The SNP leader added: "We have an economic recovery plan in place and we are working flat-out as a government to help hard-pressed families, protect businesses and ensure our economy is well-placed to recover first and fastest."

The slogan will also be used in the SNP's independence referendum campaign.
