Santa run raises charity cheers
Santas embark on charity fun run

About 1,500 Santas have converged on the centre of Edinburgh to raise money for the terminally ill.

The volunteers donned the red and white of Santa to take part in the Great Scottish Santa run on Sunday.

Santas and elves ran twice around the 1.5km circuit in West Princes Street Gardens.

The turnout, which included visitors from the US, Japan, Sweden and across the UK, was more than twice that of last year when 650 people took part.

Brian Maycock, spokesman for Edinburgh's Winter Festivals, said the event had raised more than 30,000 for terminally ill children.
