US spacecraft set for Moon crash

Nasa will crash two unmanned spacecraft into the Moon in an attempt to detect the presence of water in the form of ice.

The existence of ice in the permanently-shadowed craters at the Moon's poles has been suggested but never confirmed - and could be a boon to future space exploration.
