Stephen Fry searches for manatees

Stephen Fry admires the Amazonian manatee in captivity, and then goes in search of them in the wild.

Manatees could once be found in great herds but are now officially "vulnerable to extinction" - with just a few thousand remaining in the world.

Fry and zoologist Mark Carwardine have been tracking down some of the most endangered animals on the planet in a six-part series.

Last Chance to See Amazonian Manatee is broadcast on BBC Two at 2000 BST, on 6 September 2009.
