One of the very first pictures to be posted from the Hudson River was obtained by a Twitterer from Florida, Janis Krums. Mr Krums, who was on a ferry, took a picture on his phone and immediately posted it on Twitpic.

Twitpic is a site which is helping in the transformation of Twitter from a pared-down messaging tool into a multimedia service.

Speaking to the BBC, Janis Krums describes the scene of the plane crash and how he shared the image with the rest of the world.
