Autopsy performed on dead croc

Autopsies are helping researchers to find out why gharial crocodilians are dying out in large numbers.

Last year, more than 100 of the strange looking creatures washed up dead on the banks of India's rivers.

For the past year, herpetologist Rom Whitaker, who runs the Madras Crocodile Bank, has been followed by a BBC Natural World team as he has attempted to solve this mystery of this mass-die off.

Crocodile Blues is on BBC Two on Tuesday 2 December at 2000 GMT as part of the Natural World strand
