School Report 2011: Stop Press! Grandad's online!

We know why you should get online

More than 100,000 volunteers have promised to help a campaign to get more people on the internet as part of the government's Race Online 2012 campaign.

The BBC has launched its own media literacy campaign and School Reporters in England, Scotland and Wales have been running intergenerational workshops with students teaching older members of the community how to get online.

As part of the First Click initiative, they have used their news skills to interview the elders, to find out where their interests lie, and then helped them research them online.

The skill-swap results in a more confident internet user - and a newsworthy story for the School Reporters to broadcast.
