Tango Multiple

Map showing location of Tango Multiple

The colourful neighbourhood of La Boca is one of Buenos' Aires' 'must sees'.

The houses were originally painted in vibrant shades by Italian immigrants who settled in the area and who used whatever paint they could get their hands on - often from boats at the nearby port - to liven up the tenement buildings that they made their home.

Renowned tango dancer and artist Guillermo Alio has a workshop in the area and his tango-themed paintings are popular with tourists.

Time your visit right and you can also witness his multimedia work 'Tango Multiple' in action. A male and female tango dancer (often Guillermo and his wife) dip their hands and feet in paint and dance the tango on a piece of fabric, creating a painting as they dance.
