Arts in north fear severe cuts

The Arts Council has had to make cuts to funding across the board as the recession bites.

All organisations it regularly makes grants to have had their funding cut by point five per cent.

But Anthony Sargent from Gateshead's Sage iconic arts venue does not agree that arts funding is a luxury.
