Sexual Health

Anyone who has sex can catch a sexually transmitted infection (STI). These factsheets by fpa (formerly the Family Planning Association) outline the risks and treatment for different STIs.

Health Protection Agency

The Health Protection Agency (HPA) is an independent body that protects the health and well-being of the population. The Agency plays a critical role in protecting people from infectious diseases.

Department of Health

Official website of UK Department of Health, the government department responsible for public health issues.

The British Association for Sexual Health and HIV

Their aims include "To promote, encourage and improved the study and practice of the art and science of diagnosing and treating sexually transmitted diseases including all sexually transmitted infections, HIV and other sexual health problems."

The British HIV Association

BHIVA has evolved from a fledgling organisation into a 800-member association with a commitment to provide excellence in the care of HIV-infected individuals. Its aims include "To advance public education in the subjects of HIV and the symptoms, causes, treatment and prevention of HIV related illnesses through the promotion of research and the dissemination of the useful results of such research".

Provides help and advice on the subject of Herpes.

Society of Sexual Health Advisors

The SSHA is a professional organisation for Health Advisers working in departments of Genito-Urinary Medicine and Sexual Health.

Fertility issues

Infertility Network

Infertility Network UK (I N UK) is a national charity created by the merger of CHILD and iSSUE. They are the largest network in the UK for those experiencing fertility problems and offer face-to-face and telephonic support and information at regional and national level.

Fertility Friends

Fertility Friends is a meeting place for couples in the UK fertility community and has been online since January 11th 2002 - their aim is to help people through the difficult process of assisted conception by sharing thoughts, experiences and knowledge with others.
