The golden hour

Panorama: The Golden Hour will be broadcast on Monday, 17 February 2003 at 2235 GMT on BBC One.

If you've experienced domestic violence, and you'd like to talk to someone in confidence, please call free on 08000 934 934.

Lines will be open today until 1am, and on other days between 7.30am and midnight

As part of the BBC's "Hitting Home" season, Panorama investigates how perpetrators of domestic violence are brought to justice.

Sarah Spiller reports on new efforts by police to gather evidence straight after an assault.

This is known as the 'Golden Hour', and it enables prosecutions to go ahead even if the victim is reluctant to press charges.

This programme will be screened as part of the BBC-wide season Hitting Home.

Production team:
Reporter: Sarah Spiller
Producer: Jennifer Clayton
