Jerry Brotton
Jerry Brotton is a writer and academic.

He has taught at various universities in the UK, and is currently Senior Lecturer in Renaissance Studies at Queen Mary, University of London.

He has written numerous books on Renaissance art, history and thought, including The Renaissance Bazaar: from the Silk Road to Michelangelo (Oxford 2002), and The Renaissance: A Very Short Introduction (Oxford, 2006). His most recent book, The Sale of the Late King's Goods: Charles I and his Art Collection (Macmillan, 2006), has been long-listed for the 2006 Samuel Johnson Prize.

He is currently writing a book on Shakespeare and Islam, and has acted as the Globe Theatre's International Fellow. He is a regular reviewer and broadcaster on both radio and TV, appearing in the BBC documentary Leonardo, and Channel 4's The Medici. He also writes for BBC History Magazine, The Literary Review, and RA Magazine.

He lives in south London with his partner, the biographer Rachel Holmes.
