Dorries and Abbott in abortion group row

Shadow health minister Diane Abbott has been criticised by Tory MP Nadine Dorries for her decision to resign from a cross-party group on counselling given to pregnant women by abortion providers.

Ms Dorries, who is also on the committee, said that that Ms Abbott had "no clue" about what had gone on at the group's meetings because she had only attended two out of three events.

But Ms Abbott replied that other members were also concerned about the function of the group, claiming it was a "front" for those wanting counselling cancelled.
