About Hardtalk Extra
The Hardtalk Extra production team on location with Gavin Esler
HardTalk Extra is the arts and culture strand of the BBC's award-winning television interview programme, HardTalk. It is broadcast each Friday on BBC World and BBC News 24.

HardTalk Extra shares HardTalk's one-on-one format
and in-depth research -- and
since it launched in March 2004, has attracted some of the biggest names in literature, movies, art and music.

Former guests include late actor and activist Christopher Reeve, the venerable authors John Updike and VS Naipaul, the actors Angelina Jolie, Penelope Cruz, Jane Fonda, Tim Robbins and Robert Redford, the Ground Zero Project architect Daniel Liebeskind, fashion photographer Mario Testino, and the musicians Baaba Maal, Simon Le Bon and Daniel Barenboim ... to name just a few!

The programme's main presenters are Gavin Esler, who also presents Newsnight on BBC Two; and Mishal Husain, who presents Breakfast News on BBC One, and is an anchor at BBC World.

Where possible, HardTalk Extra interviews are streamed in full on our website and you can view these using the BBC's audio/video player. Past interviews are archived on this site, too, and to search for a particular guest just type their name into the search box on this page.

If you have any comments on HardTalk Extra interviews or would like to suggest future guests, you can contact us through the HardTalk website -- just click the "contact us" link on this page.
